Our design passes TCEQ’s(Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) Best Available Control Technology (BACT) evaluation, and includes:
Advanced combustion technology that reduces emissions using the latest innovations from GE.
Pipeline-grade natural gas (the same that fuels your kitchen stove) ensures the cleanest possible combustion - much cleaner than gasoline, diesel, or coal.
Advanced monitoring and control systems optimize performance to reduce environmental impact, operating only during peak demand periods (maximum 40% of year).
Ability to turn on and off quickly allows power plant to operate only when needed, minimizing emissions
Our facility is designed to meet or exceed environmental standards:
Ultra-low emissions through GE's latest DLN2.6e combustion technology and use of pipeline grade natural gas
Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) with real-time public reporting on EPA's website
Third-party calibration of CEMS systems to ensure accuracy
Modern pollution controls on all equipment
We’ve conducted a comprehensive air quality analysis and ozone analysis required by both state (TCEQ – Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) and federal government (EPA) that demonstrates:
Full compliance with National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) set by EPA to protect vulnerable populations including children, elderly people, and people with asthma
Austin air quality will not be adversely affected
Compliance with all Prevention of Significant Deterioration requirements
Existing power plant carries the best possible environmental compliance rating by TCEQ(Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) and has not had a lost time safety incident for almost 20 years.
Our project undergoes rigorous review by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), including:
New Source Review (NSR) permitting process
Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) analysis
Best Available Control Technology (BACT) requirements
Public notice and comment periods for community input
We believe in open communication throughout the permitting process:
All permit applications are publicly available
Community input is welcomed and considered
Regular updates on project status and timeline
Commitment to addressing public concerns
